Photo, video exhibition inaugurated at Chisinau-based museum

Chisinau, 20 January /MOLDPRES/ - A photo and video exhibition by artist Stefan Rusu titled, Extinguishing species: Pleading for Red Book of modernist architecture, was inaugurated at the National Art Museum of Moldova today.
In the beginning of the event, the director of the aforementioned museum, Tudor Zbarnea, said that the exhibition was the outcome of a research within a project titled, Insular Modernities, focused on the socialist architecture from Central Asia and Eastern Europe and includes a string of pictures with endemic plans, juxtaposited with the modernist architecture. The exhibition also contains a documentary titled, Return from the Future, and the Frunze (Leaves) video essay, made on the period of stay in the Central Asia and more research travels in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in 2013-2019. ‘’This exhibition is an experiment for us,’’ Tudor Zbarnea noted.
The exhibition was conceived for Trieste Contemporanea, Italy, where it was produced and presented in 2021. Stefan Rusu was born in the Ciietu village, southern Cantemir district, presently Comrat district, in 1964. He is the curator of more exhibitions, editor, visual artist and film producer.
The exhibition will be opened till 20 January.
