State of emergency for 60 days established in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today ruled to establish the state of emergency in Moldova for a period of 60 days starting from 24 February 2022.  

To demand the declaring of emergency state, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita came to parliament’s plenum. She specified that, on the period of the emergency state, decision-makers will establish a special regime of entrance and exit from Moldova, of use of the air space, as well as measures due to ensure the management of the migration flows and ensuring the protection of the people who fled Ukraine.  

The document sees that, on the period of the emergency state, the Commission for Emergency Situations of Moldova will issue instructions which are compulsory and executory for the leaders of the central and local public authorities and economic agents, of the public institutions, as well as for the citizens and other people who are in Moldova.  

Also, the draft sees the expulsion from the territory of Moldova of the people whose presence can hit the ensuring of public order and state’s security; establishing a special working regime for the economic agents and public institutions; banning the holding of rallies, public events and other mass actions; coordinating the activities of mass media; management of migration flows, as well as other measures.   

The parliament decision adopted on 20 January 2022 on the declaring of the emergency state all over Moldova for 60 days was abrogated by the today’s decision.
