Moldovan parliament approves documents on construction of road bridge bordering Romania

Chisinau, March 10 / MOLDPRES /- MPs approved today in both readings the draft law for the ratification of the Agreement between the governments of the Republic of Moldova and Romania, which provides for the construction of a road bridge bordering Romania over the Prut River.

The document defines the technical, financial, legal and organizational aspects related to the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of the border road bridge between the two states, over the Prut River, between Ungheni (Moldova) and Ungheni (Romania).

The bridge will interconnect the road infrastructure between the states: the national road RI Chisinau - Ungheni - the border with Romania (on the territory of the Republic of Moldova) and the Târgu Mureș - Iași - Ungheni Highway - the state border (on the Romanian territory). The bridge will have two lanes, and its capacity and reliability will be determined in the feasibility study.

The financing of the construction works of the bridge and the access road, including the related infrastructures, located on the Romanian territory will be paid by Bucharest, and the construction of the access road and the related infrastructure on the part of the Republic of Moldova will be financed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
