Moldovan ethnographer, curator launches book about national shirts

Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/ - A book titled, Retorică vestimentară: cămașa cu altiță (Vestimentary rhetoric: the national shirt) by PhD in philology, university lecturer, scientific researcher coordinator Varvara Buzila was launched at the National Ethnography and Natural History Museum today.
The event took place within the holiday International Museum Day and European Night of Museums, the 2022 issue, with the title, The Force of Museums. A number of 101 shirts from the collection of the aforementioned museum are described in the book and the publication presents nine replicas of shirts inspired from the museum’s heritage.
Varvara Buzila was born in the Trebujeni village, central Orhei district, on 19 November 1955. She studied at the Journalism Faculty of the Moldovan State University (USM) during 1975-1980. Buzila maintained her thesis of doctor in philology, folklore specialty, at the Babeș-Bolyai University from Cluj-Napoca (1998). She published over 50 scientific works, more than 100 articles of popularizing the science. Varvara Buzila was awarded the honorific title, Merited Man, the Labour Glory order and the Order of the Republic.
