About 20 explosives were blown up by National Army sappers

Chisinau, June 6 / MOLDPRES /- In May, the National Army sappers liquidated 19 explosives and 113 cartridges of various calibers in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti, as well as in localities in the districts of Anenii Noi, Orhei, Dubasari, Straseni, Ialoveni, Ungheni and Hancesti.

According to the head of the Engineering Service of the National Army, Lieutenant-Colonel Igor Livițchi, one of the demining missions was carried out by the engineers from the Codru Genius Battalion, in Sadova, Călărași. The team, led by Captain Gheorghe Rotari, found two artillery shells and a grenade launcher in the basement of a local rest base.

The ammunition, which dates back to World War II, was transported to a safe place to be destroyed.

Since the beginning of this year, military engineers have carried out 74 demining missions, which have destroyed about 220 explosives of various types and over 9,500 cartridges.
