Moldovan bee keepers to be informed about works of treating agricultural crops nearby bee gardens

Chisinau, 9 June /MOLDPRES/ - Bee keepers and agricultural producers will be able to use an information system for exchanging information on the treatment of agricultural crops with phyto-sanitary products on lands nearby bee gardens, according to legislative amendments adopted by the parliament in the final reading today.     

Under the document, the situations of bees’ mass intoxication come about because of the defective communication between agricultural producers and bee keepers on the use of phyto-sanitary products for the treatment and processing of agricultural crops nearby bee gardens. This fact causes huge damages to the bee-keeping sector, as well as to the entire agricultural sector. To remedy this situation, the draft provides for the creation of an information system for exchange of information between farmers, bee keepers and controls bodies on the sprinkling of agricultural crops and the placement of bee gardens.  

Thus, agricultural producers will be obliged to notify in the information system about the application of treatments by 48 hours before the treatment at the latest, indicating the exact date and time of carrying out the works, the name of the phyto-sanitary product or fertilizer, the consumption norm of the product, etc.

Also, the MPs proposed amendments to the Contravention Code, in order to sanction the use of phyto-sanitary products and fertilizers for the protection of agricultural crops and the forest ones, without preliminary notification through the information system, as well as the introduction of erroneous data in the system. The fine might vary between 450 and 750 lei for private people and for people holding offices – between 1,500 and 2,250 lei.
