Chisinau, 4 July /MOLDPRES/ - About 50 per cent of the Chisinau residents are vaccinated against COVID-19 with the first two doses and 23 per cent – with the booster dose. The head of the city hall’s medical and social assistance general department, Boris Galca, today made statements to this effect at an operative meeting of the municipal services.

According to Galca, those 70 vaccination points from the Moldovan capital are open and work as normal. Thus, the municipal authorities urged citizens to observe the protection measures and get vaccinated, as the number of COVID-19 cases registered an increase last week, especially among children.

„Two COVID sections are already activated at the hospital of infectious diseases for children. Also, if needed, other sections will be prepared in hospitals from Chisinau. We notice, in continuation, an increase in the number of cases, but with an incidence which allow us remaining in the green code. We hope that this wave, which is quite infectious, will have light forms,’’ Boris Galca said.

At the same time, the civil servant noted that 11 pregnant women confirmed with the COVID virus were put in the Maternity Hospital No 2 and another nine pregnant women are suspect of having been sick.

Also, a COVID hotbed was recorded at a centre for placement of refugees from the Botanica district of Chisinau. In this case, 12 children confirmed with the COVID virus were hospitalized.
