About 50% of drug import authorizations awarded to companies from Transnistrian region

Chisinau, 9 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- About 50% of the total authorizations for the import of medicines on the territory of the Republic of Moldova were awarded to companies from the Transnistrian region. The data were presented today during a meeting of the joint working groups for health protection.

The discussions focused on the mechanism for importing medicines, with some aspects being specified regarding the issuance by the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency /AMDM/ of authorizations for unregistered medicines. Thus, Chisinau appreciated the positive impact of the technical meetings organized by the AMDM for economic agents in the Transnistrian region in order to comply with the procedural steps that need to be taken to obtain the authorization.

At the same time, the coordinator of the working group from Chisinau announced that, as of February 24, 50% of the authorizations issued by AMDM were assigned to the eight economic agents from the Transnistrian region. It is about more than 800 import authorizations, of which 300 – for vitally important medicines.

Also, at the request of the specialists from Tiraspol, the representatives of the Ministry of Health explained the procedure for procuring laboratory tests for the determination of viral hepatitis B, C, D, intended for patients from the Transnistrian region.

The meeting focused on the medical rehabilitation services provided to children diagnosed with cerebral palsy, including those from the Transnistrian region. In this regard, Chisinau expressed openness to examining opportunities to expand services for children residing in the region, based on the statistical information that Tiraspol is to provide.

This year, the joint working groups for health protection convened in five meetings.
