Chisinau, August 24 /MOLDPRES/- Under obtaining the status of a candidate country for EU accession, the Government will reconfigure and strengthen the capacity of the public authorities to ensure a quality and operative process of achieving the European integration agenda. The government decided at today's meeting to consolidate the Cabinet and reorganize the structural subdivision analysis, monitoring and evaluation of policies within the ministries in the structural subdivision Public Policy Coordination and European Integration (SCPIE), as well as the creation of the subdivisions into three administrative authorities, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The new subdivision will ensure the process of planning, drafting, monitoring and evaluating public policies to meet EU standards according to each ministry's areas of competence. Also, the officials of the reorganized structure will monitor the fulfillment of all the requirements for accession to the European Union by our country, will prepare the necessary technical documents in the negotiation process related to the accession to the EU, as well as ensure permanent communication with similar services of the European Commission and other European institutions.

"The status of a candidate country for the EU requires a major institutional effort in order to align as quickly as possible with European standards and to prioritize good governance and justice reforms. The today's changes are only the first step to strengthen the institutional capacity of public authorities", Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița said.

Through the change, one of the Government's goals is to attract young specialists with studies in European public policies, knowledge of the English language and quick learning skills.

The draft law was approved that provides for the establishment of a new position - deputy general secretary of the ministry, who will be responsible for the European integration process. The position of Deputy General Secretary of the Ministry of European Affairs is not mandatory for public authorities. Each ministry is to make the decision, taking into account the volume and complexity of the tasks and the degree of involvement of the ministry in our country's accession to the EU.
