Government presented to public country's development vision for next seven years

Chisinau, August 26 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova 2030 National Development Strategy is getting closer to being finalized and approved by the Government. After the period of public consultations in July-August this year, today the government presented to the public the main directions and objectives for the development of the country until 2030. Attending the event were representatives of civil society, institutional and development partners, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

"It is a symbolic coincidence that we are discussing the National Development Strategy on the eve of our country's Independence Day. I very much hope that all of us together, being a consolidated society, will support the development of the Republic of Moldova. We want major and strategic projects dedicated to everyone that we can carry out despite the daily crises", Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița said.

The National Development Strategy Moldova 2030 means that by 2030, the Republic of Moldova will become prosperous, resilient and European. Among the Government's ambitious plans are:

*reducing by 50% the level of poverty in all its dimensions for men, women and children of all ages;

*construction of the Chisinau - Iași highway and 3 road bridges between the Republic of Moldova and Romania at Giurgiulesti, Leova and Ungheni;

*construction or rehabilitation of sewage systems and treatment plants in all localities with more than 15 thousand inhabitants;

*carrying out the national programs Universal coverage with street lighting service and Replacement of slate with modern and safe material;

*creating model high schools in all regional development pole-cities;

*construction of 2 regional hospitals in Balti and Cahul and modernization of all district medical institutions;

*carrying out the national program Ensuring modern and safe sanitary facilities in every school and kindergarten.

The National Development Strategy Moldova 2030 is a visionary document based on the UN Agenda 2030 and the Association Agreement with the European Union. In the context of obtaining the status of a candidate country, this document will form the basis of a whole set of policies developed by the Executive in the next period, including the National Development Plan and the medium-term budgetary framework", said Dumitru Udrea, Secretary General of the Government.

By late August, the Cabinet will receive the last proposals and suggestions for finalizing the document, and in September 2022, the strategy will be approved by the Government and then presented to the Parliament for debate and adoption. Also, the Government is launching today the public consultations on the Anti-Crisis Agenda 2022-2023. The document is an immediate and short-term action plan to strengthen resilience to current and future crises. Some measures and actions included in the agenda have already been initiated and will be carried out by the end of this year and during the next year.
