Republic of Moldova marks 31 years of Independence

Chisinau, August 26 /MOLDPRES/- Today the Republic of Moldova marks 31 years since the proclamation of Independence, voted by the Parliament on 27 August 1991.

The event will start traditionally with laying flowers at the Grieving Mother monument and Stefan cel Mare monument, after which the country's officials will participate in the inauguration of the National Holiday Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova, which will begin with the speech of President Maia Sandu.

Also, the symphony orchestra of the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic, the Presidential orchestra, the MAI orchestra, the Doina Academic Choral Chapel, soloist Mariana Bulicanu, Lia-Ciocârlia musical-choral studio, BrioSonores, Igor Podgoreanu, Cătălin Josan and violinists Alexandra Conunova and Ilian Gîrnetă will perform on the stage of the Great National Assembly Square.

The program will culminate with the parade of military bands in the Great National Assembly Square. In the evening, starting at 18.00, Cristofor Aldea-Teodorovici, the Zdob si Zdub & Advahov Brothers and the Fluieraș Folk Music band will perform on the stage.

Events dedicated to Independence Day will take place in all localities in the country.

The Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova was adopted by the Parliament on 27 August 1991.
