President wants Moldova to become strong, free in EU family

Chisinau, August 27 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan President Maia Sandu sent a congratulatory message today on Independence Day. The official said she is proud of every citizen of the Republic of Moldova and wants our country to become truly strong, free and democratic in the European Union family.

The official noted that the Republic of Moldova is a free country, with lovely and beautiful people. "Today is an important day for the citizens of the country. We all want a state that defends and helps, a strong and democratic country. Only in this way, people will be able to choose what is best for them, and the state will work for it. A free people will choose a better life, at home. The war in Ukraine shows us the price of freedom. We helped as much as we could, and a whole world saw us for what we are - a small country with a big heart. The war shook our lives. War means crises and poverty. The Republic of Moldova is a free country, and this is our strength. Let's all value freedom and build well-being," said Maia Sandu.

The President said that this year, the Republic of Moldova received the status of a candidate country for joining the European Union, which will help us to create a state of law, to invest in businesses and villages.

"Citizens chose freedom and democracy, and to achieve this wish we need the help of our European partners. We are sure that the Republic of Moldova can become really strong in the EU family. The state takes care to defend people's interests, we will give a helping hand to all those who need it. We will do everything to get out of the cold season well, to keep the peace and safety of the people of our country. We want you to know that we are proud of every citizen of the country. I have every confidence that we will succeed. We will emerge from crises stronger and more resilient to change things for the better. I urge you not to stop in the middle of the road, to leave our children a free and prosperous country, here at home", Maia Sandu said.

Today, the Republic of Moldova marks 31 years since the proclamation of Independence, voted by the Parliament on 27 August 1991.
