Customs Service collected over 721 million lei last week

Chisinau, August 29 /MOLDPRES/- On 22-28 August the Customs Service collected over 721.8 million lei (about 36 million euros) to the state budget, up by 21.5% than the budgetary burden for the period.
According to the Customs Service, private people introduced goods whose value in customs exceeds the non-taxable limit, and payments worth over 16.7 million lei were collected, which represents 2.3% of the total amount collected in the period. The money collected from taxpayers is paid directly to the state budget and redistributed for wages, infrastructure development, social projects etc.
Last week, 10,658 customs declarations were completed, and the flow of means of transport was 97,905 crossings.
As regards the fight against fraud, 104 violations of customs legislation were found in the period, and fines of over 447 thousand lei were applied.
Since the beginning of this year, the Customs Service has collected about 21.2 billion lei to the state budget, up by 21.9% than the receipts of the same period last year.
