Moldovan delegation to Joint Control Commission maintains position on need to withdraw illegal posts from Security Zone

Chisinau, 8 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Joint Control Commission (JCC) today resumed its meeting in the Bender city, after a scheduled break, having in focus the present situation in the Security Zone, worsened starting from last April through the abusive setting by the Transnistrian power wielding structures of new posts which obstruct the free movement, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

These provocative actions of Tiraspol and the lack of wish of the Transnistrian representatives to comply with the basic acts of the peacekeeping mission at Dniester triggered a long-lasting blockage in the Commission’s work.

The sides exchanged opinions, in an attempt to identify solutions to overcome the blockage.

Moldova’s delegation reiterated its position as to the need of the unconditional withdrawal of the posts from the perimeter of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, formulating, under this aspect, proposals for an eventual draft decision.

As for the destructive approaches and the more and more manipulating rhetoric of the Tiraspol representatives, spread in mass media in the last period, as well as on the platform of the of the Joint Control Commission, Moldova’s delegation expressed its viewpoint in a statement from 4 August 2022, asking for ceasing the attempts to politicize the work of the Commission and involve it in improper actions, which diminishes the level of trust between the JCC participants and hinders the establishment of stability in the Security Zone.

No consensus was reached at the meeting and the discussions are to continue next week.
