„I thank the minister for her work and dedication during this year, when the way the environment sector from Moldova is managed was changed. A new ministry, reformed and reset agencies, new laws and new protected areas, including the Lower Dniester National Park, as well as projects targeted towards a better life of the citizens. The draft which prevents the unjustified increase in the price for the fire wood, financing of water-purifying stations, starting the national waste management system – all have as end beneficiary each citizen of Moldova and these are just some of the achievements by Iuliana Cantaragiu,’’ the PM wrote.

For her part, Cantaragiu announced her resignation on a social network. ‘’Today, I offered resignation from the office of environment minister. This was a year full of work, reforms and projects. I gave back to the environment the ministry merged by the pervious governances. I initiated the reform of the agencies subordinated, which I hope will be finished till the end of this year and I created the premises of a correct, just and transparent work at Moldsilva, Moldova’s Waters, Environment Agency, Inspectorate for Environmental Protection, State Hydrometeorological Service. I ensured the institutionalization of the areas protected by the state: the Lower Prut Biosphere Reserve; I managed the creation of the Lower Dniester National Park, - a thing expected by ecologists during 20 years. We have managed to restart the investment in the water-purifying station from Soroca. We managed to de-block the processes in the waste management sector and in three waste management regions, we laid the foundations for starting the development of infrastructure,’’ the environment minister said.

„I am grateful to my team and those who backed me on this period. I had a unique opportunity to work in the position of decision-maker and I know better now the challenges and limitings the ministry is facing; therefore, I wish the future minister good success, courage and strength,’’ Iuliana Cantaragiu added.
