Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet today approved the initiation of negotiations on the draft Protocol No 2, which sees the amendment of the agreement between the governments of Moldova and Ukraine on the work of the railway transport, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The draft protocol envisages amendments as regards the removal of the double control operations and in the some sectors – of the triple control of the customs and border management authorities. Through this, decision-makers will ensure the facilitation of the customs and border control of the trains and locomotives’ brigades which cross the territory of Moldova and Ukraine.
Thus, the procedures of railway transit of goods on the territory of Ukraine with the destination Moldova and Romania will be facilitated and on the territory of Moldova, - with destination Ukraine and Romania. This will allow attracting the volumes of goods carried by train.
At the same time, the project’s implementation will allow changing the logistic chains through redirecting the transport of goods from the road segment to the railway one, thus decreasing the burden on the national roads. This will lead to increasing the volumes of goods in transit on the territory of Moldova and will have a positive impact on the national economy.
The negotiations on the amendment of the agreement between the governments of Moldova and Ukraine on the work of the railway transport are started following official proposals coming from Kiev.
