Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today participated in the seventh edition of the Mass Media Forum from Moldova. In his message, the speaker thanked all mass media representatives of Moldova, who do their job honestly and inform the citizens correctly, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
„I start the day, as well as end it with reading the press – I used to do so also before entering politics, as to be correctly informed means not to let you be deceived. And who would like to be deceived deliberately? Namely therefore, I think that it is quite important that the citizens ask for and receive correct information – only in this way, they will be able to take the best decisions for themselves and their country,’’ Igor Grosu stressed.
According to the speaker, starting from the first day of the war in Ukraine, honest journalists, those who care about the professionalism of their work, and first of all, about the protection of people’s lives, have informed the citizens correctly, writing about the tragic events which occur several kilometers far from Moldova, presenting real stories of thousands of Ukrainian citizens who found shelter in Moldova. At the same time, there were also ‘’journalists’’ who tried hardly to divide, to spread hatred and misinform the citizens through the most sordid propaganda means. ‘’Even in 2022, we are witnesses of hatred discourses, gender stereotypes, manipulation. And I do not mean criticism, but distortions of the reality, which weaken and endanger the security of the country and even of these journalists,’’ the parliament speaker said.
In his speech, Igor Grosu noted that the fight against the forged stories represented one of the challenges, with which the authorities fight day after day, instead of focusing their efforts on priorities. ‘’The goal of the lies is to destroy namely the thing which keep us united, capable of edifying a good country for all people – the trust. Let us be united and correct! Not for one man, a party, not for the parliament, but for protecting the country and children. As the stake is now for Moldova to advance on its way to the free, peaceful and rich world,’’ reads the message conveyed by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.
