Chisinau, Dec. 13 /MOLDPRES/- District hospitals will be subordinated to the Ministry of Health and not to local authorities as it was until now. Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco and head of the Parliamentary Commission for Social Protection, Health and Family Dan Perciun made the statement today.

The head of health mentioned that the initiative has already been registered in Parliament, being supported by the majority of PAS deputies.

"The main objective of this project is to strengthen the district hospitals, create the premises for equipment, financing, management improvement in the district hospitals. These changes will ensure efficient management and an increased quality of services that citizens benefit from," Perciun said.

Nemerenco said that the initiative will contribute to the modernization and efficiency of the health system.

"Currently, district hospitals operate in an outdated infrastructure, with old engineering networks, all of which are without ventilation. Not to mention high-performance equipment. As a result, we have a low quality of medical services offered, which leads to a lack of medical personnel. Regrettably, the investments made by APL today are derisory. It is a decrease in investments made in all district hospitals. In 2015, all district councils invested approximately 87 million lei in infrastructure, but every year this amount decreased", Nemerenco said.

"The Ministry of Health has no plans to close any hospitals, and upon completion of this process, no workers will be laid off, they will not undergo internal changes. Only the role of founder is being transferred from the local public authority, which does not have the necessary capacities for the development of hospitals, to the Ministry of Health", said the minister.
