Moldovan MPs adopt law on mandatory health insurances accounts for 2023

Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today adopted the law on the mandatory health insurances accounts (FAOAM) for 2023 in the second reading.  

The document sees both revenues and expenses worth about 14.1 billion lei. As compared to the sum approved for 2022, the revenues and the spending are forecast to increase by 15.1 per cent.   

The quantum of the mandatory health insurance premium in percentage sum of the salary and from other rewards has not changed and will be 9 per cent. The citizens who should insure themselves independently will buy the mandatory health insurance policy against 12,600 lei – a size which comes from the average nominal salary on the country, forecast for 2023 at 11,700 lei. At the same time, the facilities and cuts for those who will independently purchase the mandatory health insurance premium remain. Thus, on the period 1 January – 31 March, the premium will be to be bought for 4,056 lei. According to data by the National Health Insurances Company (CNAM), over 90 per cent of those who purchase insurance premium independently do this till 1 April, so with price cut.        

Most FAOAM – 13.9 billion lei, is to be accumulated in the account for the payment of the medical and pharmaceutical services. This figure is by over 1.8 billion lei or 15.1 per cent higher against the one approved for 2022.   

Also, the law on FAOAM for 2023 provides for the covering of the expenses for the increase, starting from 1 October 2022, of the salaries of the staff from the medical and sanitary institutions, indexation of the expenses of the medical and sanitary institutions and the spending for maintenance.
