Chisinau, 29 December /MOLDPRES/ - The citizens of the EU member states who cross Moldova’s state border will benefit from documentation facilities. The MPs today adopted a draft law to this end in the first reading.
Under the draft, the members of the diplomatic missions, consular offices and representations of international organizations accredited in Moldova, as well as their family members will be exempted from the compulsoriness to hold a visa at the crossing of Moldova’s state border. The holders of travel documents issued by the Council of Europe, European Union, Sovereign Military Order of Malta, International Committee of the Red Cross and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization will benefit from free visa regime to travel to Moldova.
The new regulations regard also the facilitation of the documentation of the European Union’s citizens through excluding the obligation to present the means of maintenance and the health insurance for giving temporary right to stay for a five-year period. Another facility refers to the term of submitting the application for the giving/extending to right to stay, which is 15 calendar days. These facilities are prompted by the getting by Moldova of the status of country candidate for accession to the European Union.
Also, the document proposes the excepting from the procedure of getting an invitation for the providing of an entry/exit visa for the foreigners holding a permit of stay or a valid visa (excepting the transit visas), issued by the United Kingdom, the USA and Canada.
