Over 351 thousand inhabitants of Transnistrian region hold citizenship of Republic of Moldova

Chisinau, 20 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Over 351 thousand inhabitants of the Transnistrian region hold the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova and 362 thousand appear in the State Population Register.

According to the Reintegration Policy Office, on 31 December 2022, a total of 360,938 residents with domicile on the left side of the Dniester and the municipality of Bender were recorded in the State Population Register. At the same time, 328,625 have passports of citizens of the Republic of Moldova and 293,305 identity cards.

Also, in August 2021-December 2022, 6,395 residents of the Transnistrian region benefited from facilitations when issuing the identity card of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova, and 501 - when issuing the provisional identity card.

In April 2018 - December 2022, under the conditions of the simplified procedure for acquiring the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, 32,349 people were recognized as citizens of the country, of which 22,291 (about 69%) are residents of the left side of the Dniester and the municipality of Bender who have previously obtained identity documents of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova.

Last year, 10,711 people from the region requested the certification of civil status facts, and 11,653 civil status documents and 6,625 duplicates were issued for them.
