Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita has participated in an event dedicated to the marking of five years of work of the Investors’ Association from Romania (AIR). In her speech, the PM stressed the role of Romanian entrepreneurs in the deepening of the bilateral commercial relations on the two banks of the Prut river, as AIR is one of the principal bridges of connection between the business environments of Romania and Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

„Romania is our main economic partner, with a share of over 21 per cent of the value of commercial exchanges. Presently, more than 1,500 enterprises with Romanian capital are registered in Moldova. Romania is among the first countries providers of direct foreign investments in the economy,’’ the prime minister said.

Natalia Gavrilita informed the business people about the measures undertaken by the government, in order to create predictability, de-bureaucratize and digitalize the interaction of business people with the state, so that Moldova becomes an attractive destination for foreign investors. The PM also highlighted the joint actions undertaken by the cabinets of ministers from the right and left banks of the Prut river, in order to boost the economic connections.

„Along with the government of Romania, we have managed, in the last one year and a half, to lay the foundations of an improvement and extension of the logistic and transport infrastructure which connect the two banks of the Prut river. I mean here the construction of the future road bridge in Ungheni or the renovation of the Galati-Giurgiulesti one,  preparing the making available for work of the border crossing point Leova-Bumbata or our efforts to implement the coordinated border control,’’ Natalia Gavrilita noted.

The prime minister encouraged Romanian investors to enhance their work in Moldova: ‘’ We want more and more firms from Romania to discover the Moldovan market and contribute to the sustainable growth of the economy, to creation of new jobs, as well as to the transfer of know-how and good corporate practices. I invite you to permanently have a constructive dialogue, from which the best solutions are to come, so that Moldova’s economy becomes not only resilient, but also copes with the exigencies of the European market,’’ the PM added.
