Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/ - Over 100 operators of thermal stations on solid biofuel have been trained to correctly manage them, with the support of the programme, Approaching the impact of the energy crisis in Moldova, financed by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The trainings were organized by the Agency for Energy Efficiency, in partnership with the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR), in more regions of Moldova. Their goal was to update the knowledge of the operators from the public institutions which hold and exploit a thermal station on solid biomass.

Thus, the operators studied the way the heating installation is prepared for the cold season, the monitoring and supervision, the servicing works, the preservation at the end of the heating season, security rules on the process of exploitation of the thermal stations.

In last December, another over 100 operators of thermal stations were trained at the Centre of Excellence in Constructions and 100 thermal stations from public institutions were inspected and verified by experts.

Over 300 thermal stations working on solid biofuel with a capacity of 70 MW are set in public institutions from Moldova. They can replace the consumption of up to 20 million cubic metres of natural gas per year; thus, a sum of about 20 million dollars might remain in Moldova, available for local producers.
