Chisinau, 31 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Grain and combined fodder storage warehouses will be checked for compliance with fire safety regulations. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița requested the inspection in the context of the fires that took place at these constructions, including recently at the Giurgiulești Free International Port.

In all, 127 grain and combined fodder storage warehouses, managed by 41 economic agents will be subject to control.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the controls will be carried out by joint groups made up of employees of the Agency for Technical Supervision and the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection, with the involvement of representatives of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations if necessary. These institutions will report weekly on the actions taken and the results of the checks.

The first fire at the silo in the Giurgiulesti Free International Port took place on January 16. It occurred following the collapse of a storage tank of sunflower meal granules. Firefighters also intervened on January 20 to extinguish another tank with a load of sunflower seed meal that had caught fire.
