Security in region discussed at committee meetings of 10th session of Euronest PA

Chisinau, February 19 /MOLDPRES/- Around 100 officials from the Eastern Partnership countries and members of the European Legislature are participating in the 10th session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, held these days in Chisinau. Among the topics under discussion are the consequences of the invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, security challenges, economic integration, as well as energy security, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The Parliament hosts for the first time the session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly. It started with the committee meetings: Committee on Political Affairs, Human Rights and Democracy, Committee on Economic Integration, Legal Approximation and Convergence with EU Policies, Committee on Energy Security, Committee on Social Affairs, Education, Culture and Civil Society. Reports on political affairs, economic integration, energy security and social aspects were adopted. Other subjects discussed by the parliamentarians concerned the progress made by the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine in the European integration, as well as the fight against disinformation in the countries of the Eastern Partnership.

On February 20, the inauguration of the 10th session of the Euronest PA will take place, in which Speaker Igor Grosu will also participate.

The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly was established in May 2011 in Brussels, when the presidents of the legislatures of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and the European Union signed the Constitutive Act of the Assembly.

The mission of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly is to promote the necessary conditions for the acceleration of political association and economic integration between the EU and the Eastern European partners, to strengthen cooperation in the region, as well as between the region and the EU. The multilateral assembly contributes to the consolidation, development and increase of the visibility of the Eastern Partnership.
