Moldovan Finance Ministry fully approximates 60 per cent of European Union's directives

Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ - Finance Ministry’s representatives today reported the progress made in the process of implementation of the Association Agreement, as well as about the institution’s priorities at the parliament’s commission for economy, budget and finances. According to the report unveiled, 60 per cent of the European Union’s directives have been fully approximated and eight per cent were partially transposed.     

Attending the meeting, the director of the Customs Service, Igor Talmazan, referred to the enforcement of the Customs Code, as well as to the working out and approval of the regulation on the enforcement of its new provisions.  

On 18 January 2023, the parliamentary commission for foreign policy and European integration approved a plan of hearings of the State Chancellery and ministries on the evolution of the implementation of the Moldova – European Union Association Agreement.   

„We refer here to the quantitative and qualitative assessment of the progress achieved so far. It is about the obligations of transposition which come from the bilateral agreements with the European Union, as well as from Moldovan government’s action plans. The goal is for us to be able to join and consolidate the joint efforts in speeding up our European integration approach,’’ the head of the parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration, Doina Gherman, said.     

On 4 March 2022, Moldova officially submitted the application on accession to the European Union. Subsequently, the European Council recognized Moldova’s European perspective and ruled to give it the  status of country candidate for accession to the European Union. In the context, the European Commission was invited to submit to the European Council a report on the fulfillment of the conditions provided for in its note from 17 June 2022, as part of its periodical enlargement package. The European Council will decide on the next stages, once all conditions are fulfilled.
