Japan to continue investing in projects on Moldova's modernization

Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ - Japan will further support the democratic processes and the European integration of Moldova and the Moldovan-Japanese relations will be boosted on more segments. Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Yamada Yoichiro discussed perspectives of the bilateral cooperation at a meeting today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.      

The PM thanked for Japan’s constant support, especially for the recent decision on providing a concessional loan worth 100 million dollars, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The money will be meant for strengthening the state’s capacities and carrying out of development projects in such sectors as medicine, energy efficiency, agriculture, education, environmental protection. At the same time, Dorin Recean referred to the financial assistance provided in December 2022 for projects in the fields of health, energy and food industry.   

„Japan’s support helps Moldova be more resilient and contribute to the achievement of the goal of improving the quality of people’s living. We want to advance in the modernization process and our strategic objective stays the integration into the European Union,’’ Dorin Recean said. He noted that Moldova was open for new infrastructure and energy projects and the authorities remained focused on the creation of an attractive business environment for foreign investments.        

„In Moldova, there are numerous investment opportunities – you have the status of country candidate for accession to EU, you are a good destination for the relocation of businesses and you have a large number of young people experts in the IT sector,’’ Yamada Yoichiro stressed.    

The ambassador of Japan also reiterated that his country appreciated Moldova’s contribution to the regional security and would provide the needed support for the Moldovan citizens in continuation.
