Moldovan president, representatives of eight EU states' diplomacies discuss European integration perspectives

Chisinau, 8 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has had a meeting with a group of women ministers and state secretaries from Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Romania and  Sweden.   

According to the presidential press service, the interlocutors discussed Moldova’s European integration and the progress made by the country in the last year. President Sandu reiterated that Moldova’s place was in the European Union. The women ministers highlighted the results achieved by Moldova in the field of women’s political representation, as well as the efforts by the Moldovan authorities for promoting the equality and combating the gender violence.   

The women ministers and state secretaries today are on a visit to Chisinau, occasioned by the International Women’s Day, marked on 8 March, in order to back Moldova’s European integration and emphasize women’s contributions to the modernization and European integration processes.   

In the afternoon, the head of state will join the women ministers at a public discussion on Moldova’s European way at the Artcor Centre. Attending the event will be Foreign Affairs Minister Nicu Popescu, MPs, diplomats, journalists, as well as representatives of NGOs and international organizations.
