Chisinau, March 24 /MOLDPRES/- In the coming years, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) together with international partners will develop a digital platform that will keep track of agricultural land, cultivated crops, land use, etc. A feasibility study on creation of the Farmers' Register was set up and presented to the authorities this week.
According to the authors of the study, the Register will become a useful support in decision-making by the authorities in the process of granting subsidies to farmers, as well as preventing the irrational use of agricultural areas.
Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, the head of MAIA, mentioned the importance of creating the digital system and declared that the authorities will unify their efforts to increase data reliability.
The Farmers' Register will be a digital tool that will automate the registration processes in the agricultural segment and will integrate all the activities of agricultural producers. The system will contain orthophoto images, which can be accessed by state institutions and farmers. Data on agricultural activities, typology and size of agricultural holdings managed by farmers will also be stored.
The feasibility study was set up with the support of the United Nations Development Program, at the request of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
