Initiatives for Express European Village programme to be able to be submitted in Moldova as of 2 May

Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - The concept notes for participation in the Express European Village programme will be able to be submitted starting from 2 May. Within the programme, about 220 settlements are to benefit from financing for the implementation of local development projects. For this, over 100 million lei (5 million euros) will be allocated from the state budget. Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Lilia Dabija today unveiled information to this effect following a meeting of the national council of regional and local development.      

Lilia Dabija noted that the procedure of participation in the programme had been simplified and boiled down only to the submission of a concept note.

Initiatives regarding the improvement of the technical and urbanistic infrastructure and construction and renovation of the social infrastructure, including the setting of street illumination, rehabilitation of public institutions for improving their energy efficiency, endowment with equipment needed for a good work of schools, kindergartens, crèches and community centres will be able to be submitted for the Express European Village programme. Mayoralties will be able to benefit from financing also for the building and renovation of sports fields and monuments.      

„All financial resources will be allocated from the state budget through the National Fund of Regional and Local Development. The contribution of the local authorities of the level 1 is zero. We are set to earmark a sum of over 100 million lei and for 220 mayoralties to be declared as beneficiaries of this new programme,’’ the infrastructure and regional development minister said.        

The Express European Village programme was launched following an initiative by President Maia Sandu, in order to allow settlements implement quick projects in six months at the latest, which need less financial resources.
