Fourteen citizens of Moldova evacuated from Sudan

Chisinau, 5 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) has informed that, following violent armed confrontations in Sudan, 14 citizens of Moldova were evacuated, through two flights, one to France and another one to Russia.
Igor Zaharov, the adviser on communication of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister, Nicu Popescu, said that, given the difficult situation in Sudan, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry had constantly monitored the security situation. ‘’Taking into account the violent armed confrontations on the territory of Sudan, MAEIE made efforts to identify Moldova’s citizens who need support and evacuation. In this respect, MAEIE notes that 14 citizens of our country were evacuated through two flights, one to France and another one to Russia,’’ the quoted source noted.
According to MAEIE, at present, 13 evacuated citizens, among whom 6 children are in Moscow, where they were taken over and assisted by decision-makers of Moldova’s Embassy in Russia. ‘’The evacuated citizens are in safety and the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry , in cooperation with other structures of the state, provides the support necessary to these families and identifies ways of repatriation to Moldova,’’ the adviser added.
