Moldovan president meets European Commissioner for Transport

Chisinau, 9 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean, on a visit to Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.

„I today welcomed European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean in Chisinau, with whom I discussed the roads, bridges and railway which connect us, in the direct sense. On Europe Day, we received good news – the agreement under which our country joins the Connecting Europe Facility was signed today. Moldova and EU make concrete steps, so that we are member of the European family as soon as possible,’’ President Maia Sandu said.    

The head of state noted that, in our capacity of associated member of this facility, we will receive more financing for the construction, development, modernization and completion of the trans-European networks in the transports sector, energy and digital sector. ‘’I thanked Mrs. Commissioner for the assistance provided by the European Union, so that we have better roads and infrastructure and for the agreement on the liberalization of the road transport of goods with EU. These thinks help us be more connected and have a more intense commerce with the EU countries,’’ the Moldovan president stressed.
