Moldova to get 5.6 million euros for solid waste processing

Chisinau, May 10. /MOLDPRES/- Government approved today the grant agreement between our country and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) worth 5.6 million euros to carry out the Moldova Solid Waste project. The allocated financial resources are to be directed towards the implementation of the project in Ungheni, Nisporeni and Călărași districts, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
"The grant will be used to ensure the development of the infrastructure necessary for the management of municipal waste and for the procurement of indispensable equipment and machinery. Beneficiaries of the grant will be local public authorities and the population, public institutions and private sector," said Grigore Stratulat, state secretary of the Ministry of the Environment.
The project implementation period is 2023 - 2027, and the validity period of the agreement is up to 15 years, with a grace period of 4 years.
The grant agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the EBRD on financing of investment projects aimed at the development of infrastructure in solid waste management was signed in Chisinau on March 30, 2023.
