Chisinau, May 21. /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu thanked all the citizens of the country and the diaspora, who said today in one voice that Moldova's place is in the European Union. More than 80 thousand people demanded the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU in the Great National Assembly Square, the presidential press service has reported.

"This dream was built by our grandparents and parents, who 34 years ago, on August 27, claimed the right to freedom, national unity and a European future. It is our duty to realize this dream, because we are a faithful, hardworking and dignified people. We have a common mission to make Moldova richer and more modern. And this is within the power of each of us. Let's look at our country with pride", said the head of state.

The President mentioned that we are united by our common desire to live freely in a European state. "We are united by the belief that Moldovans deserve to be happy at home and decide their own fate. We are united by the hope that in 7 years we will look into the eyes of the children of Moldova proud of our decisions and we will see optimism and joy. If these are the things that unite us all, regardless of ethnicity, mother tongue or political ideology, Moldova will certainly be in the European Union", said Sandu.
