Chisinau, May 30. /MOLDPRES/- The decision on extension of the state of emergency in the Republic of Moldova was published today in the Official Journal.
The state of emergency was extended by 60 days, starting on June 4. The decision was motivated by the risks and threats posed by the Russian Federation's war in Ukraine. It is also found that our country is exposed to asymmetric threats and a wide spectrum of manifestations of hybrid warfare.
At the same time, the risk of new cyber attacks on public institutions and critical national infrastructure was stated. In this context, the Republic of Moldova would still need the legal mechanisms circumscribed to the state of emergency, in order to manage any unpredictable developments.
Thus, during the state of emergency, the Commission for Emergency Situations will issue binding and enforceable provisions for the heads of central and local public administration authorities, economic agents, public institutions, as well as for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and other persons on the territory of the country .
The state of emergency was set up on February 24, 2022, with the outbreak of war in Ukraine.
