Italy marks National Day

Chisinau, June 2. /MOLDPRES/- Today is the day of the proclamation of the Italian Republic (1946), unitary state in southern Europe.
Italy became a republic after a referendum held on June 2, 1946, a day celebrated ever since as "Republic Day." That was the first time Italian women had the right to vote.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Italian Republic were established on February 21, 1992.
According to statistics, currently 1397 companies with Italian capital are active in the Republic of Moldova, the investments in the social capital amounting to about 1.731 billion lei, or the second place according to the number of companies with foreign capital and the 6th place according to the volume of direct foreign investments in the Moldovan economy.
The Italian Republic is one of the main economic partners of the Republic of Moldova, both in terms of trade and investments. The main goods exported from the Republic of Moldova to the Italian market are agricultural products such as wheat, corn, sunflower seeds, sunflower seed oil, nuts, natural honey; industrial products such as garments, yarns and fabrics; footwear; wires and cables, packaging and wooden articles, leather goods (suitcases), etc. The main goods imported from Italy are medicines, leather, yarn and cable, synthetic fiber fabrics and cotton.
