Several athletes of Moldova awarded at Ministry of Education

Chisinau, July 12. /MOLDPRES/- The athletes who achieved outstanding performances at the European Games Krakow-Malopolska (Poland) and at the European Weightlifting Championship, organized in Chisinau were awarded today at the Ministry of Education and Research.

Eight Moldovan weightlifters won 21 medals at U15 and Junior European Championships, hosted by Chisinau Arena.

"The year 2023 brings us remarkable results in the field of sports. I thank the athletes and coaches who make us proud whenever the anthem of the Republic of Moldova is heard in the arenas of international or European competitions. Behind these results are years of work, involvement and sacrifices, which we appreciate, making the development of sports one of the priorities of the Ministry of Education and Research", relevant minister Anatolie Topală said.

Also today, President Maia Sandu congratulated the athletes who won medals at the European Youth Weightlifting Championships.

The head of state sent a congratulatory message to the Moldovan weightlifters who won 21 medals at the European Weightlifting Championships. The Moldovan champions won 4 gold, 12 silver and 5 bronze medals. "I congratulate all 32 athletes who represented our country. I bring warm congratulations to Nicoleta Cojocaru, who became the European champion in weightlifting at only 13 years old, the vice-champion Anastasia Cernopolc and the vice-champions Alexandr Baladji, Danu Secrieru, Dan Betca, Ion Badanev and Vadim Dănuță. I wish the young athletes to reach the Olympic podium", Maia Sandu said.
