Chisinau, July 21. /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu met yesterday with people of Mănoilești and Negurenii Vechi, Ungheni district, as well as with those from the neighboring towns, the presidential press service has reported.
"Today's hot weather did not stop them from coming in large numbers to the talks, to appreciate the changes in their villages. We talked about the fact that we still have a lot of work to do to modernize the localities, but we have already started many projects that are yielding results", the president said.
Both villages are led by women with a spirit of initiative, who manage to attract resources for locality development projects. Thanks to the European Village program, Mănoilești commune has an Urban Plan, and people from the villages of Coșeni, Țâghira and Zăzulenii Vechi, Negurenii Vechi will enjoy tap water. "We have already completed 150 European Village projects throughout the country. The European Express Village Program was recently launched, which was appreciated by the inhabitants: in Mănoilești the sports field in the central park will be rehabilitated, and in Negurenii Vechi the public lighting network will be extended. In Mănoilești roads and access roads to the agricultural businesses in the locality are being built with European money", the official said.
The president added: "Visiting our villages every week, I meet people with bright faces who despite the difficulties, succeed in improving the quality of life in their communities. For example, in Negurenii Vechi, through the Local Action Group, computers were bought for the school and the school museum was set up. Such people, hardworking and involved, are the ones who build Europe every day at home".
