Moldovan electoral body approves calendar schedule for organizing and holding general local elections

Chisinau, 2 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved the calendar schedule for organizing and conducting the general local elections on November 5.

The document sets out the actions due to be taken for the organization of the general local elections, the deadlines, as well as those responsible for each action starting from the competences of the main subjects involved in the electoral process. The program is to be sent for information and implementation to the political parties, the central and local public authorities, as well as the electoral bodies, after their formation.

In accordance with the provisions of the calendar program, the electoral period for the general local elections begins on August 7.

The period for nomination and registration of candidates for the positions of mayor and councilors in local councils will start 60 days before the election day, and the electoral campaign for the general local elections will start from October 6.
