Moldovan PM meets OSCE Special Representative

Chisinau, 2 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean had a meeting today with OSCE Special Representative for the Transnistrian settlement process Thomas Mayr-Harting. Attending the event were also Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian and the Head of the OSCE mission to Moldova, Ambassador Kelly Keiderling, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The sides approached the security situation in the region in the context of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, as well as the economic and social integration measures of the citizens on both banks of the Dniester.

Recean said that the government through joint efforts is aligning the region with the goals of peace and security, as well as economic development and social protection. The officials stressed the need to maintain the dialogue with the international partners involved in the negotiation process on the Transnistrian settlement to maintain stability and avoid the tensions.

Another issue is related to the transparency of the business environment on the left side of the Dniester and the acceleration of the integration process of the citizens of the Transnistrian region.

Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting appreciated the authorities' efforts in maintaining peace and security in the region and reiterated the support of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in the peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.
