Moldovan PM visits Cupcini city

Chisinau, Aug. 3 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean began his working visit to the northern Moldova in the city of Cupcini, Edineț district, one of the localities affected by the heavy rain and strong wind of late July, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The official inspected and evaluated the rehabilitation activities of public buildings and houses damaged by the bad weather, and requested the speeding up of the delivery process of the materials and the provision of the necessary help.

"Works to liquidate the consequences of bad weather in Cupcini, Edineț district, are progressing, but need to be accelerated. We have requested the responsible institutions to further mobilize to deliver the necessary materials, including slate sheets and timber, as soon as possible. At the same time, we asked to increase the number of cranes needed to carry out the repair work. I also talked to the city's residents, who have been involved from day one in fixing the situation in the community. I thanked them for their mobilization and contribution," said Recean.

Due to recent natural calamities, in Cupcini 50 multi-storey blocks, over 300 individual houses were damaged - of which 8 were completely uncovered, including the School of Arts and 4 kindergartens. Thus, in Cupcini, the first batch of slate was distributed, in the number of 2461 sheets made of fiber cement, issued by the Material Reserve Agency, and another 1800 were procured from the budget of the local town hall.

Following a decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations, the Government provided material aid to 74 localities of 6 districts - Edineț, Soroca, Râșcani, Dondușeni, Drochia and Hâncești, to carry out the repair and construction works of houses, administrative and cultural buildings, which were affected by the bad weather.
