Over 1,500 former patentees switched to new activity regime within one month of patent ban

Chisinau, 4 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- Over 1,500 former patent holders switched to a new activity regime within a month of the prohibition of activity based on the entrepreneur's patent. The figures were presented today by Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization.

At the same time, in the same period, 840 people submitted files to the Organization for the Development of Entrepreneurship to request compensation for the costs of purchasing home appliances. "Step by step, former patent holders voluntarily comply and transition to independent activity. 1,584 traders (+236 in the last week) now work with cash registers and offer tax receipts to buyers", said Dumitru Alaiba.

According to the official, the most active district in this regard is Criuleni, where over 66 percent of the former patentees switched to a new activity regime. It is followed by Anenii Noi, with a compliance rate of 64.18%, Cahul - 62.83%, Cimișlia - 60.24% and Ialoveni - 48.21%.

"In independent activity, 1% of sales is paid - the lowest tax in Europe, without house registers, papers and reports, sales ceiling - four times higher, from 300 thousand lei to 1.2 million lei, the first three years - only advisory controls, except for serious and repeated violations," Alaiba concluded.

As of July 1, retail trade activity at stalls, counters, booths, kiosks, pavilions and from vehicles, as well as trade in domestic food products and easily perishable goods, is no longer allowed under the patent. To continue their commercial activity, taxpayers can switch to a simplified tax regime - independent activity or register in another organizational-legal form.

Former patent holders, who switch to independent activity can request by August 31 a compensation worth 10 thousand lei (500 euros) from the state, money that can be used to purchase the home appliance or setting up the workplace.

As of the current July 1, there were about four thousand patent holders in the Republic of Moldova.
