About 50 employees of CFM working to remove consequences of railway accident in southern Moldova

Chisinau, Aug. 6 /MOLDPRES/- About 50 employees of Moldova Railway state-owned enterprise (CFM) are working to remove the consequences of the railway accident that occurred yesterday afternoon on Culma - Ceadâr-Lunga railway sector, during which six wagons loaded with grain they derailed.
According to the CFM, the wagons were removed and redirected to the Basarabeasca station. "In order not to waste the cargo, damaged wagons full of grain are unloaded in a special place. For this purpose, there is also a special crane on site that lifts and directs the wagons", CFM said.
At the same time, the company said that its employees are still working to make the section functional and safe in the shortest possible terms. "The workers have already installed 50 meters of railway with new concrete rails and sleepers. In total, 150 meters of railway are to be rehabilitated," CFM said.
Yesterday, a railway accident occurred on Culma - Ceadâr-Lunga railway sector, as a result of which six wagons loaded with grain broke loose and derailed from the track. The preliminary cause is the extremely high temperature, which caused the welded rails to lose their strength. The train, with 61 freight wagons, was traveling from Basarabeasca station to Reni port, Ukraine.
