Youth can apply to Agribusiness and rural development program at UTM

Chisinau, 9 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- Technical University of Moldova (UTM) is launching Agribusiness and rural development program in the first cycle of studies. Admission to the new program continues by late August.

The program was set up in accordance with the requirements of the labor market and the economic needs of the Republic of Moldova, aimed at providing students with essential knowledge and skills to contribute to the sustainable development of the agricultural sector and the rural economy.

The program comprises a four-year cycle of full-time study and aims to train the necessary skills to address the challenges of the modern agricultural industry. Areas of study include agribusiness design and planning, agribusiness marketing and communication, sustainable agribusiness management, use of advanced agricultural technologies and digitization, agribusiness value chain development, and strengthening social, economic and environmental sustainability.

Students will learn to assess opportunities for business diversification in rural areas and formulate measures to enhance business impact on the economic, social and environmental sustainability of rural areas.

It was developed in collaboration with experts of the Ministry of Education and Research, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the Technical University of Moldova and representatives of the private sector, with the support of the USAID Rural Competitiveness and Resilience project in Moldova. UTM was selected to provide this program with the relevant infrastructure for qualified personnel and to ensure a quality education for future agribusiness specialists.

According to official statistics and the most recent census data, about 70% of the people who served as agricultural leaders and managers in the Republic of Moldova are over 45 years old. This significant figure underlines the urgent need for a new generation of well-trained agribusiness and rural development specialists to take over and continue the development of the agricultural sector.
