Chisinau, 28 August /MOLDPRES/ - The government has agreed on a priority action – to allocate another 200 million lei (ten million euros) from the reserve fund, out of care for the financial situation of the farmers hit by the consequences of the 2022 year crises. This money will be distributed for providing the farmers with assistance. Thus, the subsidization fund reached 1 billion 800 million lei. Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea made statements to this effect at a news briefing today.

‘’Those five forms of subsidization were approved by the cabinet and can be declared open for implementation. We urge farmers to prepare their acts and submit applications on asking for subsidies, in order to benefit from: reimbursement of the excise duty on diesel; the financial assistance for the farmers hit by the consequences of the crises from last year; additional subsidies; direct payments in the animal husbandry sector; establishing the quantum of diesel from the external humanitarian assistance, meant for backing the agricultural producers hit by the 2022 year drought,’’ the official said.

The minister noted that, in the last four years, the farmers from Moldova had received 6 billion 609 million lei in all. For comparison, in 2020, the subsidization fund was 1 billion 524 million lei, in 2021 – 1 billion 535 million lei, in 2022 – 1 billion 750 million lei.

„We are happy with the fact the subsidization fund has increased year after year; yet, the situation in agriculture stays extremely complicated and, as far as we see, this money has not been used quite well, in order to produce economic effects. The principal problem is the lack of cooperation between farmers, which makes them be over-indebded, which does not allow them developing and enhance their productivity,’’ Vladimir Bolea also said.

The call, through which the ministry announces the opening of the process of reception of applications for the subsidies in advance, was published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial). Micro, small farmers, local public authorities, the education and research institutions from the agricultural sector are eligible for getting subsidies. The applications will be received by the Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA) starting from 18 September till 16 November. The applications for post-investments subsidies, which can be submitted by all categories of farmers, will be received on the same period.
