Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a quite warm discussion with over 50 businesswomen from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and Taraclia district in the Congaz commune. The women present at the meeting, through the businesses they lead, provide jobs for people from the region, back other small local producers and thus contribute to Moldova’s economic development, the presidential press service has reported.

„The women entrepreneurs told me how they had developed the businesses, what goods they produce and what services they provide, how they promote them. They also talked me about the problems they face. We also discussed the situation in Moldova, the potential of economic development and the progammes through which the state supports local businesses, including those which promote the local tourism,’’ the Moldovan president said. Also, besides the businesses they develop, these women are civically active, get involved in the settlement of social problems and participate in the promotion of the ethnic and cultural diversity in the region.

„I appreciated the interest of my interlocutors in the programmes on studying the Romanian language and discussed that we can better do, so that the people of this region know their mother languages – Gagauz and Bulgarian. Only through good understanding, mutual respect and joint effort, we can edify a European country, which is to be a good home for all its citizens,’’ the head of state added.
