Moldovan parliament speaker meets Lithuanian foreign affairs minister

Chisinau, 9 September /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker in Vilnius has discussed with Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis Moldova’s progress in the process of accession to EU and the close cooperation with Lithuania. In the context, the parliament speaker thanked the Lithuanian authorities for support in the development of the institutional capacities of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE), the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The officials discussed also the fourth edition of the Moldova Support Platform, due in Chisinau in next October. ‘’This is an essential instrument to help Moldova overcome multiple crises from 2022. We want to focus on such sectors as: strengthening the state’s institutions, economic resilience, energy security and infrastructure, investments’ attraction,’’ Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said.
The parliament speaker assured the Lithuanian foreign affairs minister that all institutions of Moldova were involved in the process of implementation of the conditions formulated by the European Commission, in the context of giving Moldova the status of country candidate for accession to EU and getting the decision on the starting of the negotiations on accession. Igor Grosu emphasized that Moldova relied on Lithuania’s support this time as well.
