Moldovan authorities welcome statements by European Commission president, according to whom Moldova's future is in EU

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan authorities have welcomed the statements by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, according to whom Moldova’s future is in the European Union.    

The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) noted that, on the last period, Moldova had made significant progress on the way of accession to the European Union and these encouraging statements represent a confirmation of the efforts made.     

„We are proud of the road we have covered so far and we are resolute to work in continuation on the fulfilling of those nine recommendations of the European Commission, so that we have a positive notification on the starting of the negotiations on accession till the end of this year. A Moldova strongly anchored in the European norms and values will bring benefits both to its citizens and to the entire region,’’ reads a press release by MAEIE.    

At a today’s speech given in the European Parliament’s plenum in Strasbourg, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the future of Ukraine, Moldova and Western Balkans was in the European Union.
