Moldovan government publishes national progress report on implementation of Sustainable Development Agenda

Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova is firmly engaged in the  implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 and the authorities make effort to remove all forms of poverty, combat inequalities and approach the problems of the climate changes, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.      

This year, the cabinet worked out the first national progress report on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda, needed to analyze the results registered and intervene to speed up the pace of implementation of the sustainable development goals.

Under the Report, in 2022, over 70 per cent of the women benefited from maternity allowance and over 85 per cent of the children received allocations on behalf of the state. Also, a growth is recorded as regards the covering with essential health services and the number of births assisted by qualified medical staff.

Also, over 540 small and medium-sized enterprises received financing worth 162.1 million lei, 40 industrial platforms, ten industrial parks and seven free economic zones were developed. Moldova made progress also in such sectors as accessible and clean energy, decent work, clean water and hygiene.    

The progress report was elaborated with the support of development partners – United Nations agencies. The Report’s conclusions will be used in the context of the ODD Summit 2023, due in in New York on 18-19 September, during the United Nations’ General Assembly.
