Moldovan PM has discussions with women entrepreneurs

Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has met members of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs from Moldova (AFAM), the government’s communication and protocol department reported.  

The discussion highlighted the women’s role in the national economy and stressed the need to boost this role, especially in the context of Moldova’s continuous commitment to join the European Union. PM Recean stressed that the cabinet attached special importance to women’s economic empowerments, as vital means to stimulate the sustainable economic growth and diminish the gender gaps.    

In the context, the sides discussed the need of developing women’s entrepreneurship, not only as a source of labour force’s occupation, but also as an instrument of economic and social emancipation. ‘’The promotion of women’s economic ability is not only an issue of gender fairness, but also an intelligent strategy of economic development,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.   

Emphasizing the government’s commitment to promote the development of enterprises payers of value added tax (VAT), the official stressed that this would not only contribute to the increase in the budgetary revenues, but would also generate a greater fiscal responsibility and transparency. Besides, the sides underlined the need to create new and innovating business opportunities, which are to stimulate the economy and create jobs.   

In the context of Moldova’s aspirations of accession to the European Union, the discussions included also plans to improve women’s access to financing, education and opportunities of training, thus encouraging women’s active participation in the economic sphere, in line with the European standards and norms.   

„Our commitment to the European integration is not just a step to the consolidation of the international relations, but also a decisive step towards the creation of an environment in which the equality of chances and women’s rights are not only respected, but also actively promoted. In its capacity of future member of the European Union, Moldova is set to be a bright example of success and innovation, with special emphasis on the promotion of the gender equality and economic empowerment of women,’’ the prime minister added.
